About the MPO

The Collier Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) was established in 1982 following the Federal Highway Act that requires urbanized areas to develop transportation plans and programs as a condition to receive federal capital or operating assistance.  The Collier MPO is currently governed by an 9-member board including five members from Collier County, two from The City of Naples, one from Everglades City, and one from The City of Marco Island.   The Florida Department of Transportation is represented on the board as a non-voting member.

The Collier MPO is committed to providing the urban area with a continuing, cooperative and comprehensive transportation planning process that results in plans and programs that assure that highway facilities, mass transit, bicycle/pedestrian, rail systems, air transportation and other intermodal facilities be properly located and developed in relation to the overall plan or community development.  The MPO is also responsible for prioritizing state and federal capital improvements to address the county’s travel needs as defined in the Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) and Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP).

The Collier MPO is administratively housed within the Collier County Transportation Division under the Transportation Planning Department and can be reached at, 2885 South Horseshoe Drive, Naples, FL 34104 (239) 252-8192 . Fax (239) 252-5815 or at colliermpo@colliergov.net.

The MPO's planning process is conducted in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes.  Any person or beneficiary who believes he has been discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, or familial status may file a complaint with the Florida Department of Transportation District One Title VI Coordinator Jacquelin Brown at (863) 519-2757 or by writing her at Post Office Box 1249, Bartow, Florida 33831.
